Your private-island paradise

All the luxury of a five-star resort, yet the seclusion of a private island home with no hotels or timeshares. No longer a dream, this is real exclusivity in the heart of the Caribbean.

Mel Gibson, Johnny Depp, Nick Cage - who wouldn't want to join this A-list of people who own private islands? Now is the chance do so. Turks & Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay is a 1,100-acre private island refuge, destined to rank among the world's most elite hideaways. Limited to some 550 total home sites - no hotels, no timeshares -all the amenities of a five-star resort are available at the Caribbean's most easily reached (yet lesser-known) destination. The island's 5,700-foot paved jet strip is suitable for corporate or private jets and customs and immigration are onsite.
'For our clientele, time is their most valuable asset,' says Dan Paquette, president of Ambergris Cay Partnership. 'Our private air strip allows them to get here quickly so they can begin enjoying themselves the moment they touch the ground.'

Activities
Created by DPS Sporting Club Development Company, LLC, as part of the Ambergris Cay Partnership, Turks & Caicos Sporting Club will offer owners a wide range of activities, including big-game fishing and flats fishing for bonefish, scuba diving and water sports, as well as horseback rides and hikes with a staff naturalist along more than eight miles of pristine shoreline. And all sporting adventures will be customised by the club's outdoor pursuits staff of professional, full-time guides. There will also be facilities for squash and tennis. A Thai massage at the full-service spa will be the perfect way to relax after an active day.

Marina
The nearby island of Little Ambergris Cay, a wildlife refuge, is available for day trips and picnics. For trips further afield, owners can keep their yachts at hand, berthing them in the club's deepwater marina. It will provide more than 100 slips and be capable of handling mega-yachts over 200 feet. The marina will anchor a neighbourhood that includes residences, shopping and fine dining in a classic waterfront setting.

The social centre of the island, the Calico Jack Pavilion, is home to a gourmet restaurant, an outdoor palapa bar, and a stunning free-form pool with an infinity edge overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

Beautiful setting
Ambergris Cay offers a varied terrain, from mangrove flats to soaring limestone bluffs, and each home site boasts a sea view. Homes will be clustered in 12 unique neighbourhoods, each offering a distinct British-Caribbean sense of elegance. The first ten cottage homes, with four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths, are being built around the site for the Members' Lodge. Other home styles include custom estate homes, appropriate for larger home sites up to five acres.

'We have an unflinching commitment to the quality of the architecture and the balance of nature on this pristine island,' says Paquette. 'With an average density of just one home for every two acres, the approach we are taking is unheard of in the Caribbean and demonstrates the ongoing sensitivity we have for the environment.' This not only preserves the island, it helps guarantee privacy. While other destinations pack in high-rise flats, the Sporting Club features only private homes. Doing so also maintains the value of owner investments.
Premium home sites are still available, priced from just £248,000.
